If you haven't been here before, allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Laurie Stock. I am an "intercessory missionary" at the International House of Prayer (IHOP). Until recently, I was on the NightWatch: hence the name of this site.  I "stood by night in the house of the Lord" (Psalm 134).

Now I stand by morning-and-sometimes-afternoon, which- though an equally necessary part in maintaining a 24/7 prayer ministry- just doesn't have the same ring to it.

With the change came the facelift to my site's look and feel.  This website, like my life, is in the midst of massive transition.  Please excuse the dust and rough edges.

I have decided the name the name still fits, based on the following passage:

"But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet."
       ~1 Thess. 5:4-8

I use this site to share about my days in the Prayer Room, and to give others a chance to catch a vision for what the Lord is doing here, why I'm on this "journey" and where I'm headed, and what it's like to "Stand By Night."

 RECENT NEWS:

  • NEW VIDEO!  Finally!  I have finally added video to the "watch" section under "Media!" For the first time since I began this site!  I put together a ten minute documentary of my life as an intercessory missionary in Kansas City.  Enjoy!
  • NEW AUDIO!!  AGAIN!  RECORDED BY YOURS TRULY!  Go to the "Audio" section under "Media" to check out my team!
  • I've added more photos under my "Life in KC" section.  I'm also going to start blogging about my "nights in the prayer room" again.

  • IHOP News:
    • Starting July 1, IHOP will be embarking on a 40 day fast together as a community.  Every staff member is encouraged to fast to whatever degree and in whatever manner that they are able and feel led.  This fast is culminating in The Call DC.
    • We have started a NightWatch at IHOP's second prayer room, the "Justice Prayer Room" (JPR)!  It's not fully 24/7 yet, but there are several days during the week when there are live teams around the clock.  This prayer room is not broadcast and is mainly used for training purposes.  It also serves to keep intercession going 24/7 in Kansas City.  When the Global Prayer Room is having a devotional set, there is an intercession set going at the JPR (and visa versa).
  • My News:
    • My August Newsletter is "hot off the press!"
    • I recently returned from Chicago and Madison on a two week trip in July for support-raising, ministry, and to visit friends and family.
    • I just moved!  I found a new place that is closer to IHOP and significantly cheaper and I get my own room!  Praise God for this amazing provision.
    • My "service hours" at IHOP have undergone a major facelift.  As of  July 1, I have been cleaning IHOP's "Birchwood Center" 28 hours a week, and am no longer the sound tech for Amory's worship team or Candyce's worship team.  This switch comes with a "work scholarship," which basically means it's one of the few paid positions offered at IHOP.  Praise God for this amazing opportunity!  For more info, see here.
